Onboarding and STEM Team Scope and Sequence - DRAFT

As I've onboarded, I've had 3 school visits to STEM or Innovative schools and about 26 conversations with three different groups of stakeholders: folks within FCS, members of the broader Atlanta community and experts in the national STEM and innovation ecosystems.

Based on those conversations, I developed a scope and sequence of working meetings with the following outcomes:

  • Oct 16 - Meeting 1: What does innovation and evolution look like in FCS and what is the "why" for our work together? (Both/And Leadership)
  • Oct 24 - Meeting 2: What do we want graduates of the two STEM schools to be able to say and do? (What is a Graduate Profile? + Jobs to Be Done)
  • Oct 31 - Meeting 3: What does the student experience need to look like in order to reach that vision for a graduate? (NGLC Redesigning Learning Experience + Olin Revolution Video)
  • Nov 7th - What competencies and features do we need from our school leader, teachers and partners to ensure that we achieve our vision for students, graduates and the district?
  • Nov 14th - Who do we want to see at our school? What are the “user personas” and what is their “job to be done”?
  • Nov 28th - What do our processes for principal selection need to look like in order to find the right candidates AND what do our materials need to look like in order to cultivate the right community of learners?
    • How do we convey our job-to-be-done?

At our initial meeting today, we will tackle the first question and consider the scope and sequence as a whole. Stay tuned for updates!
